Busy craftsmen

at Hohenwehrda

Colour makes the daily life more colourful, changes the atmosphere and delights the senses. It took just a few cans of colour, tapes, some paint rollers, a few brushes and one photo wallpaper as material - to change the grey walls in the Waldhaus into a colourful welcoming stairwell. Even the seven workers themselves were astonished about the new comfortable atmosphere. They were proud and satisfied when they heard the appreciative praises of the visitors.
The idea to beautify the stairwell in the Waldhaus came from head of the family Volker Kilgus who allured art teacher Ines Barth for the planning and realisation. She mixed the colours and commanded the troops, led the team and demonstrated several coating methods. Within the colour combinations of lighter and darker pastel colours are the colours mirrored of the three Lietz-locations Hohenwehrda, Bieberstein und Haubinda.

Right after the breakfast the Waldhaus inhabitants Jeronimo, Allessandro, Vagif, Rupert und Philip started.  Once in a while astonished classmates came along and looked very interested. Sabine and Lennert didn‘t only stop by to look - without further ado they grabbed a brush and some colour and went to work until the late evening. Only during the lunch they treated themselves with a break and the dedicated workers were only satisfied when everything was done and toll of the day fulfilled. Highlight of the day was the application of a foto wallpaper - and English red telephone box.

„Great - a whole different atmosphere“, were the unanimous tenor after the work was done. The pupils also noticed that work can be fun too, if in the end you get such a vivid result. The supper then tasted twice as good as well as the closing time drink and in the end none had problems going to sleep because they all were honestly tired.
