The Hermann-Lietz school uses the Hessian central Abitur exam. In some subjects, we give more lessons than required by the state school authority to facilitate learning. Every student will receive his or her individual profile by selection of advanced courses.
Linguistic education in English, French, Latin or Spanish is embedded in contact with various European schools. We also offer language courses for foreign students, e.g. DaF for the Chinese. The advanced course in economy specifically prepares students for studies of economy or business management.
This profile also comprises the subject of Business English. The art focus has its tradition in our advanced course of arts and many art guilds (painting, pottery, gold smithing, carpentry, etc.)
The constructional and content requirements for excellent science lessons are outstanding in Bieberstein and subject to continuous improvement. As at all HL schools, physical education is very important to us. Schloss Bieberstein offers more than just the usual types of sports, from tennis and golf to ball sports to climbing.
The teaching programmed of Hermann-Lietz school also comprises the "guilds" (artistic/musical or sports work groups) and "practical work" as social service. "Learning with head, heart and hand" is Lietz' principle
Originally intended as a comprehensive educational offer for the economic advanced course the subjects have now also spread to the social-sciences branch. High-ranking lecturers from politics and the economy are invited.
The following "Biebersteiner Talks" have taken place since 1995
Students are prepared for the "time after Bieberstein" by intense career decision talks, career consulting and career training, aptitude tests and university visits. Students' parents contribute by presenting their professions at our annual career decision fair and consulting the youths.
Students at the Lietz school are clearly involved with most decisions. They have 6 votes in the school committee. They can also file petitions and decisively contribute to further development of their school.
Together with the scholarship fund of the "Verein der Altbürger und Freunde der Hermann-Lietz school", scholarships (up to 50% of the education fee) are assigned to students from the upper school in Schloss Bieberstein.
