The Baroque castle Schloss Bieberstein is a pure Gymnasium (secondary school preparing for university qualification), located 15 kilometres East of Fulda. At this time it houses the introduction stage (former grades 10 and 11) and the two years of the qualification stage before the final exams (former years 12 and 13).
If you want to see what an alternative to day school is like, you can now "test-sleep" at the three Hermann-Lietz boarding schools of Hohenwehrda, Haubinda and Bieberstein.
If you want to try us out, you will have sufficient opportunity to talk to the principals even during the summer holidays.

The baroque castle Schloss Bieberstein is a pure Gymnasium (secondary school preparing for university qualification), located 15 kilometres east of Fulda. At this time, the boarding school houses grades 10 to 13 for young men and women. It is the only school in Germany to offer the "educational year" that makes it possible to still take the Abitur examinations after 13 years at school. The idea is to improve the contents learned in middle school, to further develop knowledge, to get to know new cultural, social and sports offers, and to expand on language skills.
Schloss Bieberstein is the Gymnasium upper school founded by Hermann Lietz in 1904. Once the summer residence of the prince abbots of Fulda, it now houses 125 young men and women attending upper school. They are supported by 25 teachers and 25 other specialists.
Since all students at Bieberstein are young adults, they live and work in a less regulated environment than in middle school. Every room is connected to internet and intranet. Using modern communications means is a matter of course for our young people. Working with print is just as important here, as is documented and supported by our comprehensive, well-equipped library.
